This week’s episode takes us on a journey from Tom Grennan fandom to what we think the soundest animals are, and that’s not even as weird as it gets. Terence and Calvin are in awe after meeting Tom Grennan, but Calvin has to bring in the big guns to prove some of the mad comments Terence made afterwards. McGinty gives us a good one with a question about your life as a movie, and picking their soundtracks sends Calvin off on another human Shazam spiral. A question about tarantulas and scorpions has the lads down a rabbit hole of which animals are the soundest, and Terry doesn’t help his caterpillar reputation in the process. That’s not the only old wound reopened, as Terry is accused of pulling tricks in a skate park in Blanch. Calvin also has an update on the culprit in the €10 Revolut theft that brings up yet another bit of Terry’s wild carry-on. Send all of your questions and comments to talkingbollox@goloudnow.com
The 2 Johnnies made the trip up from Tipperary this week for a long overdue bit of craic with the lads. They didn’t arrive in brown boots, so we were off to a promising start. There’s no shortage of mad stories, from recording a podcast in their jocks in a roasting car to a guitar smash that left one Johnny finishing the show and the other heading to hospital with part of his finger hanging off. We also found out why their local grave digger is harder to book than Garth Brooks, and why an egg throwing champion is a dangerous man to stand in front of. Amongst all the carry on, there’s also a very personal story about Johnny Smacks’ son, the hospital staff who looked after him, and how the pair turned their gratitude into something special. Four lads, two podcasts, and somehow Roddy Collins still manages to get a word in. This episode was sponsored by Rightstyle Furniture. RIGHT PRICE, RIGHT STYLE, RIGHT NOW. The energy in studio is very chaotic this week and there’s two million quid on offer for eating 700 bananas. Sounds handy enough, until everyone starts doing the maths. A listener manages to wind Terry all the way up from the other side of the world by saying he bottled a straightener when they were young fellas. We eventually make it to his question about spiders and Calvin wreckons they're all on creatine this year. The wind ups keep coming when someone mentions taking the plate out of the microwave and neither Terry or Calvin can cope. There's also talk of Sunday dinners at the "services", drinking milk in public, and kitchen island competitions at Calvin’s daughter’s sleepover. Ryan Hennessy, or “your man from Picture This” as he calls himself, returns this week looking fresh as ever. Ryan’s new poetry book, In Another Lifetime, led into a conversation about putting yourself out there, embracing your accent, and why being a lad from a council estate in Athy should never stop you writing about love. From feeling lost after school to finding his place in music, he’s determined not to be put in a box. There’s also the magic of Picture This gigs, from a late night proposal in Vicar Street to surprising couples on their wedding day. Terence shares the special connection between the birth of his son and a Picture This song. Naturally, the lads then asked their romantic, poetry writing guest to judge a diss track from the TBX listeners. A slightly different take on expressing your feelings. There's big accusations being thrown around this week as Terence’s run with the Defence Forces is under investigation. He’s proud of his Grade 1, but Eoin has military sources reporting suspicious amounts of walking. Nowhere in the Phoenix Park is safe for Terry anymore. A question of would you rather wake on your roof or fight a sports mascot in the night sparks a debate on whether it's better to fight said mascot in the morning, or the nighttime. Terence is really stumped by this one and insists a roof is a roof, while Calvin and Eoin propose bouncy castles as safety equipment. The lads attempt to pick their top five rappers, before a pronunciation test points out the similarities between crisps and Rice Krispies (but not for the lads) We also get one of the best listener stories of all time, even if she was down a tenner at the cost of showing someone the 3Arena teaser video. The lads also get into holidays in a Tesco uniform, Terence’s management career, 3Arena contracts and backstage tantrums, before Darren Conway drops in to demand his 5 minutes on stage. The lads have spent years quoting Love/Hate, so getting its creator Stuart Carolan into the studio was always going to come with a few questions. They definitely weren’t expecting Kung Fu Panda to be one of the answers, though. Stuart took us behind the scenes of the show that had the country glued to the telly every Sunday. From the stories his mam brought home from her nursing shifts to the dark humour that made its characters unforgettable, there was plenty for the lads to get into. We also heard about keeping secrets from people looking to put a bet on the next death, and spotting something special in a young Barry Keoghan. Beyond Love/Hate, a slightly bumpy Ryanair flight helped convince Stuart to finally take the leap into writing. Even after creating a massive hit, getting the next story made is far from guaranteed. We also got into his new series Tall Tales & Murder, why Casey Walsh was the right man for the lead, and what “straight comedy” looks like in Stuart’s head. There’s a whole lot going on in today’s episode, and the lads don't know if they're coming or going after the big 3Arena announcemnet. Planning is already well underway, with Calvin and Eoin getting carried away with guests and zip lines, and you get an insight into the big secret operation that has been going on for weeks. It's the most wonderful time of the year - collecting time, and we're taken on a full historical tour of gathering pallets and tyres, and the fuel it added to the flats rivalries for 2 months of the year. Terence falls victim to another crazy (but believable?) accusation involving a secret cricket career, there's a question on who would survive longest abandoned on safari and another awful card-declining story. Former Ireland and Ulster rugby player Ryan Caldwell joined the lads this week to talk about his new book White Lines, and the life behind it. Ryan told us about falling in love with rugby as a kid in Belfast, chasing that dream all the way to Ulster, Ireland and the Premiership, and the identity that came with being known as a hard player on the pitch. But behind the career was a body breaking down through pain, injuries and concussions, and a mental toll that was becoming harder to ignore. He spoke openly about depression, addiction, the end of his rugby career, time in prison, and the long road back from a place where he could not see a future for himself. Ryan shared how he rebuilt his life, and why telling his story now has already connected with so many men who are struggling in silence. This episode was sponsored by Rightstyle Furniture. There's a whole lot going on in today's episode and it starts with the most important issue of the week: the TBX listener beef has now produced an actual diss track, and Eoin is brought in to judge whether this is art, or war. Terence is on edge after not getting the perfect level of froth in his coffee, but it's not all bad news as desperation for a lift means he's gotten one step closer to finding out where Eoin lives. Calvin's wound up over tipping culture and tutting taxi drivers, and has the not so bad suggestion that you should be able to buy a VIP pass for the bus lane. The lads also get into group Halloween costumes, eating chicken nuggets as an adult, and dreams of griddy celebrations. Send all of your questions and comments to talkingbollox@goloudnow.com
This week on Talking Bollox, Terence and Calvin are joined by psychologist and relational life therapy practitioner Louise Carroll for a proper deep dive into relationships - from red flags, gaslighting and “kitchen sinking”, to why most couples end up stuck in the same loops. Louise chats about growing up in Navan, working in Jigsaw for years, leaving it all to chase music with the Blizzards, and even managing a ranch in Costa Rica to get her head right. They break down the classic pursuer/distancer dynamic, why “never go to bed on an argument” can be a myth, and how phones and social media quietly wreck connection. Louise also explains her 12-week programme, Wisely Attached, and the “wounded, wild and wise” parts we all carry. This episode was sponsored by Rightstyle Furniture. We have praise for the Ireland international footballers who are listeners of the podcast - but Terence quickly turns that praise into confrontation. We try to pick a Talking Bollox five-a-side team and have to accept our chances of getting a game aren’t great. We got a big response from listeners to last week’s attempt to get Terence back on the stage for a live show, and this week we offer every bribe we can think of, from goal celebrations on his behalf at the Aviva Stadium, to the release of top-secret information he’s long demanded to know. Terence shows his disgust for a very normal word that he finds disgustingly posh and he shows a surprisingly relaxed attitude to walking around in public with toothpaste on his face. Your questions also have us weighing up if it’s better to be too scared or too embarrassed, and the prospect of getting inside the mind of someone from your phonebook. That brings Calvin to the thought of being caught inside the mind of one particular former guest – a fate he’d consider worse than time in prison. Irish rapper Casey Walsh joined the lads this week, four years on from his last appearance and in a very different place in life. The last time Casey was here he was part of Versatile, but this time he returns as a solo artist with new music, a tour on the way, and a whole new outlook on life. He talked about the madness that came with the band’s rise, from selling out the 3Arena to touring with Snoop Dogg, and how being that young with that much attention, money and momentum sent him down a path he eventually had to step away from. Casey opened up about getting sober, finding faith, meeting his wife Kim, and how his life has changed since making those decisions. There is also a new chapter opening up for him, with his first major lead acting role in the new RTÉ and BBC series Tall Tales and Murder. He told us about getting the call, breaking down when he landed the part, and why acting was always the dream before music ever took over. We also got into creative hate comments, going viral overseas and how Coolio became more than just a childhood hero, but a close friend. This episode was sponsored by Rightstyle Furniture. The accusations are flying straight off the bat on this weeks Talking More Bollox. Calvin brings “evidence” of Terry’s car leaving tyre marks up the footpath… and Eoin tries to dig himself out of the missing Hot Ones episode hole. Terence discovers the joys of the ferry (planes are dead to him), dog passports and a couple of filthy childhood food confessions—plus a brain-melter ship riddle to finish. And will there be another live show? Terence finally answers the question you all want to know, and Eoin isn't wasting time bribing him to get up there on stage. Mike Rice finally makes it into the studio and the lads waste absolutely no time settling old scores about cancellations, no-shows and who’s been acting the maggot for the last year. From Westlife being national treasures (with stats to prove it) to Katie Taylor bringing Mike back to Jesus, the chat goes everywhere fast — including cracked statues, big flash extensions, and buying cars without a licence. Mike opens up on growing up on a Kilkenny dairy farm, feeling “stone useless”, hating UCD/D4 vibes, and the moment he said “fuck it” and went all-in on comedy — plus the most soul-destroying gig of his life and the Kneecap MC madness. On this weeks Talking More Bollox it’s straight into conspiracy territory (again): what really happened to the lost “Hot Ones” episode, and did it really get wiped from existence after the lads nearly died from spicy wings? There are crumbs-in-the-bed nightmares, fake tracksuits vs tacky runners, belly-button speakers, and the most toxic suncream holiday trait you’ve ever heard. Kiefer Crosbie is back in the studio this week for his annual visit with the lads… and of course he’s causing trouble on the way in again! Kiefer breaks down what it’s really like trying to get fights sorted after the UFC, why bare knuckle money talks are never as simple as people think, and the harsh reality of getting paid peanuts while covering camps, corners and travel. He also opens up on concussions, injuries, and the mental health crash that hit after the UFC dream didn’t go the way he planned — and why getting real help changed everything. And make sure you stick around till the end where Kiefer takes the lads down a big alien rabbit hole! This episode was sponsored by Rightstyle Furniture. RIGHT PRICE, RIGHT STYLE, RIGHT NOW. In this very special branded episode of Talking Bollox, Terence and Calvin hit the road and head into the heart of Dublin’s north inner city to visit the legendary Sheriff Youth Club. For over fifty years, this remarkable institution has operated as a true beacon of hope, keeping local kids engaged, active, and on the right track through football teams for all ages and genders. Throughout the episode, the lads sit down with club secretary Leonard Russell, dedicated coach and chairperson Grace Richardson, and lifelong club legend Thomas Daly. Together, they dive deep into the rich history of the club, the daily reality of grassroots community volunteering, overcoming major local setbacks, and the sheer joy of watching generations of kids grow up on the pitch. Brought to you in partnership with Tesco and their Community Fund, this episode highlights how vital support from local stores, like the recent contribution from the Cooper's Cross opening, helps fund grassroots projects, sports equipment, and transformative experiences across Ireland. Tune in for a powerful, hilarious, and inspiring look at community spirit at its absolute finest. It's true...Every Little Helps!
Terry and Calvin are back with another round of your listener questions on this weeks Talking More Bollox, kicking off with how to actually get out of bed in the morning (and why multiple alarms should be illegal) Then onto mad Irish holiday behavior, and a plane story involving duty free drink that nearly had one of the lads in cuffs. They also debate crisp dust vs a pebble in your shoe, booking time off work for GTA 6, dodgy internet history, Irish meat picks, and the absolute state of people in airports. In this weeks episode Calvin and Terence head out to the Helix for a sit down with UFC legend turned boxer Molly “Meatball” McCann, right in the middle of fight week for the Croke Park card. Security was intense, the schedule was tight, and the chat is short and sweet, but it’s pure quality. Molly talks changing lanes from MMA to boxing, the pressure of fighting on a historic night, and how she’s grown up a lot in the last couple of years, from giving up the drink to finding real peace in herself. She also gets into her Liverpool roots, why Ireland feels like home, and the Katie Taylor “cousin” connection. This episode was sponsored by Rightstyle Furniture. RIGHT PRICE, RIGHT STYLE, RIGHT NOW. The lads are back with some classic listener would-you-rathers. There are debates on skipping coffee vs skipping haircuts, running a marathon in steel-toe boots vs sliders, and whether you’d rather dance everywhere or sing every sentence. Plus: blind rankings, eating penguin or hippo rashers, shark bite stories, a toothbrush-toothpaste relationship red flag, and an all-time missed connection in a sandwich shop toilet. Hannah Ennis spent years battling anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts before finding the tools that helped her rebuild her life, and eventually turning that experience into her work as a Self Image Coach. This week, Hannah joins the lads to speak openly about struggling with her mental health from a young age, how things deteriorated through her teens and early twenties, and the moment her family stepped in to get her the help she needed. Her journey took her to Thailand for treatment, where the shock of realising she needed more support than she wanted to admit became a major turning point. The gym became a place of solace for Hannah, and her work now focuses on self image rather than just fitness. Therapy, journaling, nervous system work and learning to sit with difficult feelings have all become part of how she looks after herself, and how she helps others do the same. This episode contains discussions about anxiety, depression, self harm, suicide, addiction and mental health. This week on Talking More Bollox, it’s time for pure chaos as the lads and Eoin run a full-on Cereal World Cup, complete with a tactics board. Frosties, Coco Pops, Cornflakes, Crunchy Nut… all put under the microscope, with plenty of arguments about sugar, seeding and “shrinkflation” The bracket is chaos, the football comparisons are flying, and the most controversial final you’ll hear all week. Financial advisor Paul Merriman, better known as Ask Paul, joined the lads this week, and if you have ever heard the word pension and immediately stopped listening, this might be the episode for you. Paul broke down money in a way that actually makes sense, from why winning or earning a fortune does not mean you will keep it, to the small weekly changes that could make a massive difference later in life. He also explained why getting on the property ladder matters so much, how overpaying your mortgage can save you serious money, and why putting something away for your kids could set them up in ways most people never hear about. The lads also got into Paul’s own story, from growing up in Tallaght to building and selling his business for millions, and the surprising truth about what that moment actually felt like. Spoiler, it was not quite the fireworks people might imagine. There is talk of pensions, investments and mortgages, yes, but don’t panic. Paul somehow makes it all feel less like homework and more like something you might actually want to sort out. This episode was sponsored by Rightstyle Furniture. RIGHT PRICE, RIGHT STYLE, RIGHT NOW. In this week’s episode the lads get stuck into a classic one of Terry’s irrational fears and he's passed it onto Calvin: the card decline. There’s nothing worse than it happening in public… especially when the person behind you might actually listen to the podcast. Things somehow spiral into the most important debate of our time: can Terry actually eat six weetabix and still go training after? There’s also talk of the “Talking Bollox effect” clearing supermarket shelves, plus a nostalgic detour into COVID panic buying, toilet roll madness, and why society would fall apart over the most replaceable things. West Belfast comedian Paddy “The Dagger” McDonnell joined the lads this week, and it didn’t take long to find out where the nickname came from. Let’s just say it involves a stag do, a tattoo convention, and a decision his wife definitely didn’t sign off on. Paddy told us about growing up in West Belfast, how getting part of his finger bitten off while working as a doorman somehow led him into comedy, and why that first unexpected seven minute set changed everything. He spoke about going from building sites and taxi driving to selling out arenas, touring the world, and still feeling like there is plenty more to do. And because it’s Paddy, there was no shortage of madness either. We got stories about accidental mushroom soup causing absolute chaos, Belfast names making no sense, taxi passengers asking questions no driver should have to answer and gout ruining Disneyland. Paddy also spoke about his culture and identity, what it was like growing up in a place where there were times he felt he could not fully be himself in certain parts of the north and how much that has changed for the better. The Weetabix chat is still haunting the pod, and the emails are coming in hot – from people toasting them with butter and into an absolute horror story after one too many. Then it’s listeners’ questions: swapping lives for a week, warning labels for each other, and would you rather fight one gorilla a month or seven chickens a day. To top it off: getting chased down Christchurch Hill on the weirdest wheel transport possible, a blind ranking of tea-dunking biscuits that nearly starts a war, and talk of a cereal World Cup next week. Usually he’s behind the cameras making the lads look good, or at least doing his best, but this week GoLoud’s Video Creative Andrew Hart sits down to tell his own story. The lads know Andrew from working with him every week, so they were shocked to hear what he has been carrying behind the scenes. Growing up in rural Offaly, Andrew had a very close bond with his parents, but after years of health struggles in the family, things took a heartbreaking turn when he lost his dad to cancer in 2020. Just a few years later, he also lost his mam after her struggles with grief, addiction and mental health ended in suicide. Andrew spoke with honesty and compassion about losing both parents so close together, and the impact it has had on him as a young man. He also told us how therapy helped him begin to process his grief, and why he wanted to share his family’s story in the hope it might help someone else keep going. This episode contains discussions about grief, addiction, suicide and mental health. The lads are back with another chaotic one, starting off with moving to Japan tomorrow and how long you’d last in a place where everything actually works. It doesn't take long for a full-blown, studio-shaking argument about how many Weetabix [or is it Weetabick?] a grown man can really eat. Listener emails take over too: there's love all the way from Munich, birthday messages, confusion about who's responsible for the absolute state of public toilets in Dublin and there’s a classic would-you-rather that has the boys imagining an extra leg booting people on Grafton Street or an extra arm robbing everything in sight. Keep sending your questions to TalkingBollox@GoLoudNow.com
Ryan “Chaos” Curtis returns to the podcast this week, and the progress he has made since his last appearance is unbelievable. Ryan talked to the lads about the work he has been putting in every day since his spinal injury, why he refuses to accept limits, and how the boring, unsexy work is usually the thing that gets you where you want to go. He spoke about learning to move again, training twice a day, wanting to run with his dog again, and why he still has no bad feelings towards MMA despite everything that happened. There was plenty of laughs too, from hospital flashbacks with Terry, childhood performances in the pub, getting abuse online for his Dublin accent, and why nobody from Dublin should ever have to say the word “beige” in public. Willa and Eric stuck around for the bonus episode and it goes exactly where you’d expect. The lads get hit with would-you-rathers that turn into full debates, like always wearing gloves vs always being on roller skates (including rollerblading into the bedroom backwards), and the appropriate response to seeing someone wearing two different runners. There’s also peak second-hand embarrassment with cards declining, a bus driver singling you out, popping balloons walking into every room for a year, and the ongoing mystery of who ratted Terry out for collecting caterpillars in the flats. Keep sending your questions to TalkingBollox@GoLoudNow.com
Good friends and now neighbours Eric Lalor and Willa White joined the lads this week, fresh from launching their new GoLoud podcast House Of Fun. With this amount of energy in one room the conversation quickly went from holy pilgrimages to spice bags, and Eric and Willa talked about getting back behind the mic together. Naturally, this led to chats about what age you are in heaven, kebabs worth travelling for, scam calls, and petal pyramid schemes. We also got some vintage Eric and Willa tales, including stolen runners and post-rave horror stories like falling asleep under a deli counter and playing football when you're definitely not in the state of mind to be on a pitch. Siobhán is back in the studio and the lads immediately kick off with the real hard-hitting debate: are you too old to be eating a petit filou at 29 years of age? From there it’s the hard hitting questions, would you rather have a squirrel rob an important item every week or a pigeon follow you around screaming every time you lie? The lads get into search histories vs last 20 photos, “Irish ma’s know everything”, and a full nostalgia spiral into emo bands from the secondary school days. To finish, Adam sends in the most specific would-you-rather ever: sink-to-sink teleporting vs airport-only flying.
This week the lads sit down with Megan O’Reilly, who has been making people laugh online with her hilarious rants and stories about everyday life. Megan told us about herself and her four sisters being raised by her dad, who deserves a medal by the sounds of it, and the craic they had growing up in the estates in Blanch. Don’t be fooled though, the neighbours are being thrown under the bus when a zinger about the hosepipe ban is put to her. We found out why she’d be the worst contestant on The Chase, why she doesn’t see herself as a lesbian life coach, and how she’d be made no fool of if she was sucked out of an airplane window. Megan also shared how one work rant led to her making videos online, the confidence it’s given her, and why, thanks to one particular female Irish comedian, stand up comedy could be next, if she can survive the thought of her sisters watching from the crowd. Eoin is back in the producer's throne this week and things quickly descend into pistachio flavoured chaos. We finally get to hear what condiment the boys would choose to smell like and what item they NEVER run out of in the gaff. There's an absolutely wild story out of Argentina and Terry has to choose between having a 9 to 5 or prison. His choice will suprise nobody. This week ,for Episode 277, MMA fighter Gary Rooney joins Calvin and Terence for a chat about his upbringing, career and plans for the future. Gary takes it back to growing up on Watling Street flats in the Liberties, how the murder of his cousin shaped him, and how finding MMA and jiu-jitsu as a teenager gave him structure, confidence, and a place to belong. He also chats going pro, the mental switch to being a “professional athlete”, cornering Shauna Bannon in the UFC, becoming one of Ireland’s youngest black belts, and one of his most treasured achievements: Starting Flat Jiu-Jitsu as a real community project. It’s a bonus episode and the chaos starts immediately: Lauren’s in studio after the infamous stage fall, and the lads waste no time debating what her RIP.ie announcement would’ve been. From there it’s peak Talking Bollox — college exam myths, why tests are a “memory yoke”, and the genuine discovery that you don’t even need a licence to drive a small boat in Ireland (so… TB on the water?). Listener questions bring the heat too: one song on repeat for a backyard ultra, lying in a bath of “anything” for €100k, ginger traits, and the worst possible soundtrack to a scrap.
In 2019 Bláthnaid Raleigh’s life was changed forever when she was raped and violently sexually assaulted by a man she had met on a night out in Galway. She joined us to tell her story, speaking about that night, the strangers who helped her get to the guards, and the long five-year journey through the justice system that followed. Bláthnaid also spoke about the impact it had on her life, finding the strength to keep going, and why she chose to waive her anonymity in the hope of helping others feel less alone. There's an impromptu quiz that puts the lads geography knowledge to the test, and there are debates about not only the best film to live in, but what defines a film in the first place. Our understanding of life with Tourette Syndrome has improved in recent years as more celebrities like Lewis Capaldi open up about their struggles as well as films like 'I Swear' showing the realities of the condition which can cause uncontrollable tics. This week, we wanted to hear a first hand account of life with the neurological condition so we spoke to Martin Sturman. Martin had mild tics as a child but never paid any attention to them until he suffered a traumatic experience in 2022 and the severity increased. He went from blinking and random bursts of song to throwing sandwiches across the room and shouting curses. He told us about not knowing what was happening to him at first, what it feels like to try and suppress a tic, and the public reaction to Tourette's. Martin has a good sense of humour about it all and told us about the times he's said something that he can't help but laugh at. And he's probably the only guest who can get away with shouting a curse directly at Terence... This episode was sponsored by Rightstyle Furniture - RIGHT PRICE, RIGHT STYLE, RIGHT NOW. Betrayal. Disgrace. Absolute heartbreak. That's how the episode starts and it only goes downhill from there as the Meta Glasses capture some truly poor reading comprehension and questionable pronunciation. Apologies in advance to anyone listening in from Brisbane. Plans are made and quickly abandoned for a run, dip and sauna and despite the listeners diagnosing Terence he refuses to accept that he might need glasses. Last Saturday we had probably the biggest guest we've ever had on the podcast - Katie Taylor. And we didn't just record an episode with her, we spent the full day together on her tour bus as she traveled around the country. We debrief the full day and give you every detail from the numbers of wheels on the bus to the disasters with the Meta glasses. There's also drama from JD the night before and a review of the most shocking part of all - Terence's driving. As ever, get in touch and let us know what you thought of Katie's episode by emailing TalkingBollox@GoLoudNow.com
Do you ever cry in the night and look at a street light? Specifically the orange ones... Calvin debates the risk of bouncing on a pogo stick, and there are mathematical equations being done on the maximum number of pigeons that could be carried at any one time. It's hard to understand how much this episode means to us - Katie Taylor is a hero of Irish sport and a dream guest for a long time. This weekend, we joined her as she drove around the country promoting her final ever fight in Ireland's most iconic arena, Croke Park. Katie told us what it means to follow in Muhammad Ali's footsteps fighting in Croke Park and how she knew this was the right time to retire. She got emotional talking about the Olympics and the fight to get women's boxing recognised as a sport, and opened up about achieving a childhood dream to representing her country - Not to mention winning gold. Katie didn't stop at gold though - She's put on incredible battles as a professional boxer and is an inspiration to so many young girls in Ireland. As we travelled around we saw first hand how much that legacy means to Katie and how she hopes to inspire the next generation of sports stars. Tickets to see Katie fight in Croke Park will be on sale from Friday June 12, on Ticketmaster. This episode was sponsored by Rightstyle Furniture - RIGHT PRICE, RIGHT STYLE, RIGHT NOW. When he decided to walk away from boxing Aidan Walsh was a two time Olympian with a medal around his neck and plenty of potential ahead of him. But, the pressure had all gotten too much and he couldn't cope anymore. So, at just 28, he retired. Aidan told us all about reaching his breaking point, realising he hadn't been happy for a long time and explained why he has no regrets about retiring early. He also told us what it's really like at the Olympics, how he managed to break both his ankles celebrating his win, and why his proudest moment in life has nothing to do with boxing. Terence learns a lesson about taking risks but somehow it doesn't affect his decision making when offered the chance to win a million. Calvin has learned lots too and has started to believe in the red string theory with not one but two mad coincidences to back it up. There are tales of recent scary trips to Calvin's attic and Terence gets a self inflicted injury mid podcast. Not to mention the return of the "rawrrr"... Send your questions, coincidences, dilemmas and more to TalkingBollox@GoLoudNow.com
From sitting across the table from two of England's most notorious serial killers, Myra Hindley and Ian Brady, to heading up the investigation to locate the bodies of the 17 people disappeared during the Troubles in the North, Geoff Knupfer has had a fascinating career. He sat down with us and took us back to his investigation of the Moor Murders and how a chance question led them to recovering the body of one of the five children killed by Hindley and Brady. Geoff headed up the Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains in the North, a body tasked with gathering confidential information and using it, not for a criminal case, but to find the bodies of The Disappeared and bring them home to allow the families to get closure. He told us about how it felt to discover the first body and how important the immunity offered by the commission is. f you have any information about the location of the remains of The Disappeared, however small, please contact the Independent Commission for the Location of Victims' Remains by leaving a confidential voice message on +353 1 602 8655 or emailing secretary@iclvr.ie This episode was sponsored by Rightstyle Furniture - RIGHT PRICE, RIGHT STYLE, RIGHT NOW. Legend of the Irish music scene Damien Dempsey joined us for a sing song this week. In between songs, we talked about the resurgence in Gaelic culture among young Irish people and how important the old ballads have been to him since he was a young child. He told us how music kept him connected to his father after his passing and opened up his spirituality, and his visions of flying over Connemara on an eagles back… We learned how he ended up performing at a prison in The Phillipines, he told us about a music session so good it made Bruce Springsteen miss a flight, and explained why in spite of his cult following Damo doesn’t consider himself famous, or even want fame.
